“Black Swan” has received a total of five nominations at the 2011 Academy Awards! Unfortunately, Mila Kunis was not nominated for supporting actress – despite predictions from numerous sites, magazines, critics. The film was honored with nominations in the following categories: “Best picture”, “Best actress” (Natalie Portman), “Best director” (Darren Aronofsky), “Best cinematography” (Matthew Libatique) and “Best film editing” (Andrew Weisblum).

The 2011 Oscars airs live on ABC February 27th from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.

This is quite unfortunate! Definitely the biggest shock for me when I saw the nomination list this morning….Mila SHOULD have been nominated…but clearly the Academy was smoking something because enough people got snubbed too.

Hopefully Mila will continue to make more movies that really challenge her….I feel an Oscar nod in the future..just gotta find that right flim of course! :)

I’m disappointed about her Oscar snub. I was genuinely surprised when she wasn’t nominated and that 13-year-old True Grit girl was. Seriously, I think people are giving this girl way too much credit just because she’s young. Like “OMG she’s so amazing for a 13-year-old”… I wasn’t blown away by her performance in True Grit at all to be quite honest. Watched it, thought she was okay/good, but that was it. Not Oscar-worthy. Mila worked so hard!! she trained ballet for months, 7days a week, 5 hours aday!!! at least she deserves to get nominated!! and the girl from true grit gets it!?! totally unfair!!! I hope she wins this sunday at guild awards!!!

I definitely agree with Ellie, even if the academy thought Mila’s character was too subtle….the work/training alone to get into character should have tipped the nod in her direction.
