Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis is speaking out in support of her friend and cast mate Natalie Portman amid accusations that the bulk of the dancing in Portman’s Oscar-winning role was actually performed by her dancing double, American Ballet Theatre soloist Sarah Lane. “Natalie danced her a– off,” says Kunis. “I think it’s unfortunate that this is coming out and taking attention away from [the praise] Natalie deserved and got.”

Kunis also says Portman has been honest about how much of the demanding footwork she was — and wasn’t — able to do. “She’ll tell you [that], no, she was not on pointe when she did a fouetté [turn]. No one’s going to deny that. But she did do every ounce of every one of her dances,” she says. “[Lane] wasn’t used for everything. It was more like a safety net. If Nat wasn’t able to do something, you’d have a safety net. The same thing that I had — I had a double as a safety net. We all did. No one ever denied it.”

Last week, Lane told EW that she performed 95 percent of Portman’s full-body dance shots. Portman has been defended vocally by fiancé and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied and director Darren Aronofsky, who insists Portman did 80 percent of the dancing in the film.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that the psychological drama BLACK SWAN from director Darren Aronofsky, starring Academy Award winner Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, will be available on Blu-ray March 29, 2011. The film follows a ballerina dancer (Portman) who has just landed the role of a lifetime as the Swan Queen in Swan Lake. Unfortunately, the pressure of being perfect plays with her mind in a most disturbing fashion. The film was nominated for best picture at this year’s Academy Awards and Natalie Portman did bring home the best actress award for her brilliant performance.

Special features for BLACK SWAN include:
* Metamorphosis: A Three-Part Series
* Behind the Curtain
* Ten Years in the Making
* Cast Profiles- Roles of a Lifetime

Just a few weeks ago, some were surprises that Sony seemed to be accelerating the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Social Network. (103 days from theatrical premiere to retail release.) Today we hear the announcement that The King’s Speech will hit store shelves on April 19 (131 days after its Dec 1 premiere). Now I’m finding a site offering (unconfirmed) pre-orders for Black Swan, apparently shipping on March 8 (a mere 81 days after it opened in mid-December, and roughly a week after Oscar night.)

The rule of thumb for estimating home video release dates used to be 17 weeks (119 days). Disney shortened that window considerably for Alice in Wonderland with its theatrical release span of March 5 – June 1 (12.5 weeks, 89 days). This time-frame works to terrific advantage with the current awards season calendar. Films released in the Fall are ready for AMPAS voters in editions that serve as deluxe FYC presentations. Movies that wait for traditional holiday premieres are perfectly positioned for home delivery, striking when the iron is hottest and publicity machines are firing on all cylinders.

“Black Swan” has received a total of five nominations at the 2011 Academy Awards! Unfortunately, Mila Kunis was not nominated for supporting actress – despite predictions from numerous sites, magazines, critics. The film was honored with nominations in the following categories: “Best picture”, “Best actress” (Natalie Portman), “Best director” (Darren Aronofsky), “Best cinematography” (Matthew Libatique) and “Best film editing” (Andrew Weisblum).

The 2011 Oscars airs live on ABC February 27th from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.

As always, some of the most interesting things about the Academy Award nominations are the films and performers who were left off of the Oscar list.

Here then are the five biggest snubs from the 83rd Academy Award nominations.

5. Mila Kunis, Best Supporting Actress in “Black Swan.”

She made the cut for the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards, and her onscreen kiss with nominated co-star Natalie Portman was one of the most exciting cinematic moments of 2010. The Academy apparently decided that she wasn’t quite strong enough, and have turned her from swan back into duckling (though hardly an ugly one.) Look out Natalie – Mila may really be out to get you now.

Darren Aronofsky is let down that Mila Kunis didn’t earn a best supporting actress nomination for Black Swan.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after he nabbed a best director nom, Aronofky says he’s “bummed” Kunis — and castmembers Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder and Vincent Cassel — were overlooked by the Academy.

But he calls Natalie Portman’s best actress nom, one of five for the film, “fantastic.”

Aronofsky avoided the television while the nominees were being announced, instead opting to build a Lego jail cell for Darth Vader with his son in his New York City apartment.

“I was superstitious,” he said. “I knew it was this morning and I tried to ignore it and block it out.”

The filmmaker didn’t have time to celebrate or take in the meaning of the nominations as he and his son are leaving for Florida to surprise the his mom on her 70th birthday.

“She was the first person to call me and I’m sure she is going to be delighted to show me off to all of her friends in Florida. So maybe that’s when it’ll sink in,” he said.

Aronofky says he’s amazed that the indie film has entered the main stream (witness the Jim Carrey skit on Saturday Night Live).

“Someone just sent me photograph of a woman dressed as a black swan standing next to man dressed as Charlie Chaplin in front of the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. And I think tourists are paying a buck to take a picture of the Black Swan, and to me it’s just mind blowing,” he told THR. “We never thought that we were making images that people would be recreating and reproducing in makeup and costume.”

Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller “Black Swan” may have garnered praise for its superb acting, artsy cinematography and intense portrayal of the professional ballet world, but there is no denying that there is one memorable scene most moviegoers just can’t stop talking about: the raunchy lesbian love scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.

And while Kunis accepts that the hot and heavy bedroom moment is bound to cause tongues to wag, she does wish audiences would look beyond those controversial couple of minutes.

“It’s one of those things where we shot it, we did it, and you hope people walk away from the film with something else, other than just the memory of that two minute scene,” she told FOX411′s Pop Tarts at the W Magazine Golden Globes Party on Friday night. “But it is what it is, so you can’t deny it.”

On that note, we couldn’t help but ask who “acted” better in those intimate scenes – Portman or her co-star in the upcoming racy comedy “Friends With Benefits,” Justin Timberlake.

“Oh I’m not even going to touch that,” she told us with a laugh earlier in the evening while at the 16th Annual VH1 Critics Choice Awards, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Nonetheless, it is highly doubtful that Kunis was too distraught she lost out on the award to “The Fighter” star Melissa Leo. The seemingly cool 27-year-old admitted that not only does she not take the whole “Hollywood Awards Season” schtick particularly seriously, but she doesn’t even read reviews, articles, or any stories pertaining to her films – regardless of whether they’re good or bad.

“Everyone has the right to their opinion and no one is wrong or right,” Kunis added. “So I just don’t read anything.”

Yet she isn’t the only one that refuses to get all wrapped up in the hoopla of Hollywood Awards Season.
